Hello,I'd like to help you with this. When installing 2016 there is a drop down with installation options, and in the future you can uncheck backburner to leave it off the list of installed add-ons for 3ds Max. That being said, we're going to have to uninstall backburner and delete a couple folders. You can paste these paths below into an explorer window in Windows to go to those locations to delete these folders manually.First, uninstall all backburner entries in Windows add/remove programs.Delete Backburner folder here: C:Users%username%AppDataLocalDelete Backburner folder here: C:WindowsSysWOW64configsystemprofileAppDataLocalOnce you have done this, you can reinstall backburner. You can find the files either in your temp C:/Autodesk unpack folder if they are still there in this location: 'C:AutodeskWIAutodesk 3ds Max 2017x86Componentsbackburner'If those temporary files are already gone/deleted, then you can either redownload the 2017 installation files or try on the Autodesk App store.

Please let me know if you have any questions.Best Regards. Just wanted to mention that I had this exact problem with Max 2018 and installing Max 2015 after already having 2018. This post helped me fix my issue. I was able to delete BB2015 and go to those folder locations (only one of which had a 'backburner' directory. Deleted that, ran the Max 2018 installer.
That recognized that we had 2018 installed and gave us the option to install only BB2018. Test that we could submit jobs 2015 (if we wanted). Naturally, the limitation there would be if we wanted to use the farm for 2015 jobs, we'd need to install 2015 on the nodes as well. In our instance we only needed Max 2015 on a few computers to finish out a client job that predated our 2018 install.
